Sink announces run for Congress

Former Florida CFO Alex Sink has announced that she is running for Congress…no, not against Jeff Miller. She is running for the District 13 seat that is currently vacant following the death of Republican Bill Young.

From her email:

I made this decision after careful consideration. Everywhere I go I hear the same sentiment from Floridians: Washington is broken.

Look at what happened during the government shutdown. The people of Pinellas County I have talked to are angry — they are frustrated that our leaders in Washington were unwilling to solve even the most basic of problems: to keep our government functioning.

What we saw earlier this month was unacceptable. That’s why I’ve decided it’s time to get off the sidelines and do my part to start changing how we do business.

As Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, I worked together with Republicans and Democrats to get things done. Throughout my entire career, I never let politics, name-calling, or finger-pointing get in the way of growing our economy and finding solutions for the people I served. I’m ready to bring that work ethic to Washington.

But, make no mistake, we have our work cut out for us. This is a special election that will only take weeks — so if we want to be successful, I will need your help to build a tremendous grassroots foundation immediately. Will you join me?

I’m ready to get to work. I’m ready to fight for change. But I’m going to need your help.

Please, join in now and help our campaign start off strong.
