This includes employees and the contract/leased employees. PNJ and WEAR TV 3 are only reporting about 200 people, but our sources inside Solutia tell us that the total people losing their jobs is 780. You can call them employees or call them contractors. Either way it’s 780 people without work.
Earlier this week, company spokesperson Melissa Hammond tolds us that more than 100 contractors have recently been terminated, but those working under the company have not been affected. I guess it’s a lot more than 100.
“We look at ensuring our inventory is balanced with market demand,†Hammonds told us. “That’s why we’ve taken these steps(to remove contractors). As far as the future, I certainly wouldn’t be one to predict. We’ll continue to evaluate the situation.â€
