Special flyover in honor of Capt. Kuss, 5:45 pm today

U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, Marine Corps C-130 Hercules, affectionately known as “Fat Albert”, and one F/A-18 Hornet are scheduled to conduct a flyover of downtown Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Key, Florida, June 7.

The Blue Angels will perform the flyover in honor of Opposing Solo Capt. Jeff Kuss, as the team transports his body to their home base of Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida, for a memorial ceremony slated to be held at the NAS Pensacola base chapel, June 9.

The flyover will be visible to the general public and take place at approximately 5:45 p.m. CDT. Blue Angels Lead Solo Lt. Ryan Chamberlain will lead Fat Albert in a flyover of Palafox St. in downtown Pensacola, from North to South, then over Pensacola Beach, from East to West, and lastly, over Perdido Key, before landing at Forrest Sherman Field, home of the Blue Angels.

The mission of the Blue Angels is to showcase the pride and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps by inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country through flight demonstrations and community outreach.
