SR Sheriff may cut 50 jobs

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendall Hall has told WEAR TV 3 that he needs an extra $3 million. If he doesn’t get it,  he’ll have to cut about 25 deputies and 25 other staff positions – including elementary school resource officers and the people who run the crime prevention program.

I say, “Do it.”

If county areas want better law enforcement protection, then they should incorporate as cities. That’s what has happened in Baldwin County, Alabama. Pace, Navarre and Midway all should be cities.

Let’s quit trying to make our sheriff offices into police departments. Maybe then Hall could cut his budget another $10 million.
