State Attorney Bill Eddins doesn’t want to prosecute any elected officials for Sunshine Law violations. Instead, he let Santa Rosa County officials off with a warning, accepted their defense that they didn’t know better and issued a long list for recommendations for the commissioners and TEAM Santa Rosa….which makes one wonder how bad Gene Valentino’s offenses must have been for him to get fined $500.
Eddins recommended that the TEAM Santa Rosa board and staff members get some Sunshine Law and public records training.
For the Santa Rosa commissioners, Eddins recommended that they don’t use their private email accounts for county business and cautioned against using e-mails to communicate with each other.
Here is the State Attorney’s report and over cover story on the issue: Santa Rosa In The Dark .
