State officials with NAACP are in town today to speak with local ministers, community leaders and area attorneys. The A.A. Dixon and Escambia County public school system are topics that will be discussed. It’s interesting that the officials are here on the same day the Escambia County School Board will be deciding the future of Dixon. The superintendent, his administrators and certain members of the school board may be surprised that people do care about the plight of the African-American students and teachers.
We are hearing that there will be a big turnout tonight for the school board meeting. I suggest the other media send news teams. The sleeping lion may have awakened.
