Two news stories from the Florida newspapers grabbed my attention this morning:

Miami Herald has an excellent series on the Bay of Pigs (not Little Sabine, the one in Cuba). Fighters who remain from Brigade 2506 pay homage to their fallen brethren. Read more.

Sun-Sentinel: Five years after a $5 million pledge from Jupiter, Fla. business leaders helped steer The Scripps Research Institute to their city instead of Boca Raton, most of that money intended for minority businesses and students remains past due. Palm Beach County taxpayers paid almost $200 million to build the headquarters and research labs at Scripps’ Florida campus that opened in 2009. But Jupiter business pledged $5 million for loans, grants and scholarships intended to give an economic boost to the minority community.
