‘Stay Clean’ added to ‘Mask Up’ campaign

“Unfortunately, it sounds like COVID-19 is not going away anytime soon we are urging the public to continue to focus on staying clean to stay healthy.”

Beginning Wednesday, July 29, Escambia County will offer bottles of hand sanitizer in addition to face masks as part of its public health campaign, “Mask Up, Escambia!”

The face mask encouragement campaign – with an exclamation point so you know they really mean it – began on July 1. Since then, COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have tripled and deaths nearly doubled – although we did have a 0.63% decline in positivity last week and the new cases for Monday, July 27 were the lowest daily total for July.

“Escambia County is pleased to be able to offer free hand sanitizer in addition to a free mask for the public during this unprecedented time,” said Emergency Manager Eric Gilmore.

“Unfortunately, it sounds like COVID-19 is not going away anytime soon we are urging the public to continue to focus on staying clean to stay healthy,” he added. “The county has supplies, and we are doing everything in our power to encourage the public to ‘Mask Up’ and stay clean.”

As an added bonus, when the public picks up at up 2-ounce hand sanitizer bottle at one of the locations listed below, they also will get a free mask while supplies last.

The county has 10,000 hand sanitizer bottles and 27,000 masks in stock for this campaign so hurry before the supply runs out.
