Stevens rejected for PSC

Steve Stevens was rejected by the Florida Senate for the Public Service Commission, vote 21-17. The opponents to the Crist nominate cited his lack of financial experience. Stevens was the CFO of Sheriff Ron McNesby for eight years. Ouch!

From the Sun-Sentinel:
“Some Senators said the commissioners’ answers to their questions at two committee meetings revealed the commissioners may not be equipped to understand complicated financial and technical information that comes before the commission. Stevens did not have a chance to speak at one of the meetings.

‘He is not qualified to make very sophisticated economic and financial decisions in the state of Florida,’ said Senate President Designate Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island.”

Stevens had been pushed for the board position by State Rep. Dave Murzin and Atty General candidate Holly Benson. What does it say about former Sheriff McNesby that his CFO was rejected for not being “qualified to make very sophisticated economic and financial decisions”?

—The inside scoop is the Stevens rejected in retaliation of Gov. Crist’s veto of Senate Bill 6 and his possible switch to running for U.S. Senate as an independent.
