A book co-authored by longtime Pensacola business leader Quint Studer has received a prestigious honor.
- Rewiring Excellence: Hardwired to Rewired, Second Edition, written by Studer and Dan Collard, has been awarded the 2026 James A. Hamilton Award by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). The award will be presented at ACHE’s Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Houston, Texas, March 2-4.
What: The James A. Hamilton Award has been given annually since 1958 to authors of management or healthcare books judged outstanding by ACHE’s Book of the Year Committee. The selection committee evaluates books based on their meaning to healthcare management, contribution to the literature, and demonstration of enduring quality and significance to the discipline.
- “We are honored to receive this award,” said Studer, who co-founded Healthcare Plus Solutions Group (HPSG) with Collard. “It’s great to know our ‘rewiring’ message resonates with the professional community represented by ACHE. Our hope is that this recognition inspires more leaders to make changes that result in organizations where patients want to receive care and employees want to stay.”
The book argues that healthcare organizations must perpetually rethink processes and leader behaviors that had previously been “hardwired” into their operations. Topics include rounding, leader development, employee well-being, and retention strategies.
“Healthcare has undergone profound changes over the past few decades,” Collard noted. “It’s a different world now, compared to even five years ago. And when you consider that a high percentage of leaders are new to their role—and that today’s generation of talent has such different needs and expectations—it’s clear why some of the older ways of doing things might not work anymore.”
Studer has written 16 books, beginning with BusinessWeek bestseller Hardwiring Excellence.
