Suter update

Parents at Suter Elementary have been told their beloved school in East Pensacola is off the immediate chopping block. However, the end still may be in sight. The school’s size and the age of the building work against it in how the school board and the administration analyze school closures.

Parents aren’t sitting quietly waiting on the possible ax. They have requested financial data on the actual costs of running Suter and other elementary schools in the district. Remember Soccer moms don’t give up easily or quietly.

One interesting note: Even though the school district may close Suter in three to five years, the school district is installing central air and new playground equipment at a cost of hundreds of thousands. Go figure.
