Tacos Mexicanos Sale Falls Apart

Gabe Hernandez posted on Facebook that the sale of his beloved food truck, Tacos Mexicanos, to Pablo Hernandez fell through, forcing him to permanently close the operation.

Facebook:

Tacos Mexicanos is closed effective immediately. The deal we were working on for a January transition into new ownership fell through and I have decided to close. I truly did my best to keep Tacos Mexicanos alive but at the end of the day God has plans that none of us can dispute. ??I will be back in Pensacola occasionally and look forward to running into y’all at the many other local dining spots we have in this great town. Thank you all for the Love! ?We Loved Cooking in East Hill.

Also, huge thanks to my amazing wife Gaby who’s been with me throughout everything and helped me build this great little business

Background: In December, Gabe announced he had reached an agreement to sell the business to Pablo. The business would remain open through December as the two worked out final details, with a complete handoff scheduled for January 1. Gabe planned to remain involved on a brand level after the sale was complete.

History: Gabe started Tacos Mexicanos in 2016 almost as a joke when he and his wife moved to Pensacola and couldn’t find good tacos. After setting a November 30 deadline to either find the right buyer or close on his own terms, an unlikely candidate emerged during what Gabe thought was a meeting with potential buyers in fancy suits—Pablo Hernandez, a customer who happened to stop by for lunch that day and asked if he could make a bid.

Tacos Mexicanos has consistently placed in our annual Best of the Coast readers’ survey.  Our readers and staff have followed it as it moved to several locations before settling on 12th Avenue.
