Take Action to End Domestic Violence

FavorHouse of Northwest Florida is launching a new community-focused initiative to highlight domestic violence prevention and awareness while raising funds to support the programs and services provided to victims of intimate partner violence and their children.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and community members are invited to “Take Action to End Domestic Violence” from September 28th until October 26th. Some of the events included in this community advocacy campaign include a Pet Walk to End DV, a candlelight vigil, a community-wide scavenger hunt and crowdfunding competition. The “Take Action” campaign culminates with a celebratory lunch where participating community members will celebrate making a positive impact on the mission to end domestic violence. Prizes will be given to category winners in both the scavenger hunt and crowdfunding competition.

“Most people want to make a positive difference, they are just looking for an opportunity that works for them. We are excited to make community philanthropy as accessible and impactful as possible, thanks to the support of our board of directors and our sponsors.” stated FavorHouse’s Community Relations and Volunteer Coordinator, Jennifer Hill. FavorHouse Executive Director, Tracie Hodson, commented, “1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been a victim of intimate partner violence. Everyone is affected by DV. If we can get past the stigma of talking about it, make it a part of the collective conversation, that would make huge strides in the mission to end domestic violence. It’s so important that people know they are not alone and how to find the support they need to safely leave an abusive relationship.”
