Council President Andy Terhaar told Inweekly his intention with his film commission ordinance was to begin the process of attracting outside companies to film in Pensacola.
“It was never my intention to prohibit any local or small film or photography company from filming or taking photos in the City of Pensacola,” he said. “I do hope that we will be able to attract large production companies here, ones that will require large crew, shutting down city street, and taking over city property for longer periods of time. These large productions will disrupt city services and these are they one that I feel would need to work with the city to help make sure we are being as open and accommodating to the film industry without disrupting the city that we all have come to love.”
Terhaar wants to make the city of Pensacola more film friendly.
“This ordinance did start a conversation that I think was needed,” said Terhaar. “I knew that the ordinance was not perfect nor did I expect it to be.”
He added, “I am glad that everyone has reached out to me with their input and I am looking forward to hearing what my other council members think.”
