Third World Pensacola

Why is the environment such a low priority in Escambia County and Pensacola? We profess to love our waterways and call this place “paradise.” Yet we have more EPA Superfund sites than nearly any other county in Florida. Our bayous are unsafe to swim in most of the year. Fish caught in Escambia Bay have high levels of PCBs and dioxin. The list goes on and on.
Last week, the Escambia County approved another construction landfill. Today, the Pensacola City Council will probably approve a lease to a company that has a horrible environmental, human health and safety record. The council is so desperate for money that it will do business with anybody….much like some Third World banana republic.

This madness has got to stop. We are slowly killing the very part of this area that we so love.
