Tolls to be used to fast track roads

The past few years the Florida Legislature has balanced the state budget by raiding the Transportation Trust Fund—funds collected that are to dedicated to road construction and other transportation needs. Gov. Rick Scott wants to use tolls to replace those funds and fast-track road construction.

In other words, Floridians will be paying twice. The trust fund consists of money collected from state fuel taxes and motor vehicle fees. No, they may see tolls on new roads and bridges. There is even been some discussion of the new Pensacola Bay Bridge, also known as “Three Mile Bridge,” being a toll bridge.
