Florida Power & Light wants to unload Gulf Power’s HQ—another sign of Pensacola’s business community losing its influence at the state level. They built the building, which has a commanding view of Pensacola Bay, in 1987. We have heard the building is barely occupied after FPL moved many of its functions outside of the region. The PNJ picked up this story five days after I posted mine.

What started as a $10 million scandal has exploded into a $36.2 million controversy involving multiple Florida state agencies allegedly misusing taxpayer funds to defeat constitutional amendments during the 2024 election cycle.   1. Not mentioned lately is ‘Project Maeve’. Unless it was postponed and not reported, there seems to have been a scheduled Council vote on the “exclusivity” arrangement to take place on December 11th according to an article by the PNJ. But nothing has been reported on that result that I can find. Is it normal for a vote (or cancelation) to be secret? I was hoping to hear the first round of Council Members’ thoughts, concerns, etc. Pro or Con. I can only imagine. But now there seems to be radio silence.
