Tomorrow morning the Escambia County Commission will hold a special meeting on the Bauer Road land deal and I assume on the employment of County Administrator George Touart.
You bet Touart and his supporters are working the commissioners pretty hard so that he will keep his job. However, it’s critical to Touart’s employment future and the credibility of county government that Touart make full disclosure of all his business dealings since he was hired as the county administrator.
He needs to provide his personal income tax returns, records of all real estate transactions, financial reports of all businesses that he owns fully or in partnership with others, a list of all the clients of those businesses, list of trips that he has taken with people and businesses that do business with the county and records of who paid for the trips.
The county taxpayers need to know that county leadership is beyond reproach, especially after the W.D. Childers era.
