Touart should have disclosed relationship

After reviewing the documents, the County purchase of land from Christine Marks and Martine’s Corp. appears to be a solid business deal. The land was appraised fairly. It meets a public need.

The problem is not the deal. It is that County Administrator George Touart didn’t disclose he had a business relationship with Neal Nash and Ron Swaine who benefited from the transaction.

How will the County Commissioners react? Currently it takes four votes to remove Touart. There may be some ethics violation here that might impact his further employment with the county.
