Touart suspension – done deal

The word we are getting is that the Escambia Board of County Commissioners will vote tonight to suspend County Administrator George Touart for one week. It appears to be a done deal.
The commissioners believe this punishment will put the ethics issues surrounding Touart to rest. The BOCC is also expected to move forward with changing the ordinances so that three votes on the commission can remove Touart from office in the future.

It’s our understanding that there will be no motion requiring the county administrator to disclose his past personal or business financial reports for review by the commission or an independent auditor.

Both PNJ and IN polls showed overwhelming public opinion that Touart should be fired.
