Yesterday on “Pensacola Speaks,” Dr. Brendan Kelly, UWF Vice President for University Advancement, announced the UWF Historic Trust will bring Trader Jon’s to the second floor of the T.T. Wentworth Museum.
“The exhibit that will open on the second floor at the T. T. Wentworth in October is one of the places that everyone who’s come through Pensacola for naval flight training has passed through, it’s a little place called Trader Jon’s,” said Dr. Kelly.
“In October, when you get off the elevator for the second floor of the T. T. Wentworth Museum, you are going to see the front door of Trader Jon’s, and when you open that door you will see a replica of the bar, almost to scale and a wonderful museum exhibit that pays tribute to the role that that establishment played in the history of this area,” he said. “It’s going to be an opportunity to bring a lot of people back to Pensacola, who have great memories, great memories of their time here and great memories with that establishment. We’re really particularly excited about that exhibit.”
Dr. Kelly added, “We are proud to be the owners of the Trader Jon’s collection, and you’re going to see a lot of the items that were actually part of that establishment and part of its history. Museums are not just about celebrating time periods that came a long, long time ago. Celebrating the history of the modern lifetimes and our lifetimes is an important feature as well, it’s great that we’re going to be able to make a contribution to that type of storytelling.”
