NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE OF THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF AUSCHWITZ, 2025
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration camp in Poland that stood at the center of the Holocaust and focus for their systematic slaughter of the Jewish people.
As we commemorate this somber occasion, we pay tribute to the undying spirit of the Jewish community. We reaffirm our commitment to educating our children and every future generation about the horrors that took place within the confines of Auschwitz and other concentration and death camps. We renew our resolve to end anti-Semitism and religious bigotry of all forms. We proudly reassert our strong bonds of friendship with the State of Israel. And we declare the timeless truth that every human being is a child of God and inherently worthy of dignity and respect.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 27, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance of the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz. On this day, I call upon every American citizen to observe this day with programs, ceremonies, and prayers commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and honoring the sacrifices of the men and women who helped liberate the victims of the Nazis at Auschwitz
THE IRON DOME FOR AMERICA
The order announced a policy initiative to strengthen national security through a next-generation missile defense shield. The strategy rests on three pillars: deploying advanced missile defense systems, protecting citizens and infrastructure from foreign aerial attacks, and maintaining a secure second-strike capability.
The Department of Defense must develop an implementation plan within 60 days, focusing on multi-layered defense against evolving threats including ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons, and advanced cruise missiles from both peer competitors and rogue states.
Key components include accelerating the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor layer and deploying space-based interceptors for boost-phase intercept. The plan emphasizes terminal-phase intercept capabilities, non-kinetic defense measures, and secure supply chains with advanced security features.
The initiative extends beyond domestic defense through international cooperation. The Defense Department will review theater missile defense posture to enhance multilateral cooperation, improve protection of forward-deployed troops, and accelerate sharing of capabilities with allies.
Funding will be integrated into the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget, with plans for an updated assessment of strategic missile threats and identification of priority defense locations against potential nuclear adversaries.
PRIORITIZING MILITARY EXCELLENCE AND READINESS
The order establishes new military service policies centered on troop readiness, cohesion, and integrity. The order implements significant changes to Department of Defense medical standards and facility usage policies.
Under the directive, the Secretary of Defense must update medical standards for military service within 60 days, revising both appointment and retention criteria. The order also mandates changes to facility usage policies, requiring strict sex-based segregation of sleeping, bathing, and changing facilities except in cases of extraordinary operational necessity.
The Secretary must submit a comprehensive implementation report within 30 days through the National Security Affairs office. The Department of Homeland Security will align Coast Guard policies with these changes within 30 days of the DoD updates.
This order revokes Executive Order 14004 of January 25, 2021, and mandates the rescission of all related policies and guidance. The new policy framework emphasizes biological sex-based standards and facilities usage, while maintaining severability should any provision face legal challenge.
The implementation timeline requires swift action from military leadership, with most major policy changes scheduled for completion within 60 days of the order’s issuance.
