Two Flood Insurance workshops offered, April 23

University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF IFAS) Extension in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties will be hosting two flood insurance workshops this week. The workshops are targeted to home and property owners interested in changes made recently to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP is especially important to Florida as we have 40 percent of the NFIP’s policies. Recent legislation in 2012 and 2014 have made significant changes to the way flood insurance will be handled in coastal and inland flood zones, with concern by many of significant rate increases. Sea Grant Coastal Planning Specialist and attorney Thomas Ruppert will discuss the latest impacts of changes to this program (https://www.flseagrant.org/about/staff/ruppert/).

The first workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 23 from 10:00-11:30 am at the Escambia Central Office Complex (3363 W. Park Place). The second will be held the same evening (Wed., April 23) from 6:00-7:30 pm at the Navarre Visitor Information Center (8543 Navarre Parkway). Both workshops are free and open to the public.
