Sell and then lease back jail
According to county records, Marion County Administrator Lee Niblock is asking for the board’s guidance at Tuesday’s meeting on the next move in consideration of a $50-million offer from the Corrections Corporation of America, or CCA.

In exchange for paying $50 million, CCA is offering a 20-year lease to the county, with rent set at $4.95 million in the first year.

That would be compounded by an annual inflation factor of 2.5 percent, meaning at the end of the lease the county would have paid just shy of $130 million in rent.

Principal resigns, tired of bullying from district officials

Longtime Cypress Lake High Principal Tracy Perkins resigned Monday saying she would not serve political interests or allow herself to be bullied. The 11-year principal stated she didn’t want to leave the school but alluded to district administrators as potential causes. Read more.
