Pensacola Humane Society encourages the community to attend the Board of County Commissioners Committee of the Whole Meeting held tomorrow morning, Thursday January 9 at 9 a.m., at Escambia County Governmental Center (located at 221 Palafox). The meeting will determine whether or not Escambia County will accept the fellowship from Target Zero Institute.
As a fellow of the Target Zero Institute, Escambia County will undergo a three year program to help the community become a NO-KILL community. The experienced TZI team will assess what is currently being done in the community and make recommendations regarding local ordinances, intake procedures, animal care, collaboration, fundraising and more, all in an effort to bring the community to a 90% live release rate of all shelter pets. The fellowship comes with no cost to the community.
Although the public is not invited to speak at the meeting, Pensacola Humane Society encourages all fellow animal lovers, friends, and supporters to attend the meeting as a show of support for accepting the TZI fellowship. Supporters are asked to wear orange (or yellow) as a show of solidarity.
