United Way of Escambia County is launching the second annual non-profit training series with this year’s first program hosted at the Lewis Bear Company from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, March 26. The program received accolades from last year’s non-profit professionals who rated the usefulness of information provided and their increased competency at 90% and 91% respectively. This year’s program will again be facilitated by United Way’s President/CEO, Andrea Krieger. The first session will include a general overview on the essentials of non-profit paperwork. Subsequent general and advanced sessions include coverage of fundraising tactics, setting up budgets, marketing and grant writing. Each session is a good networking opportunity that will match non-profit organizations with potential supporters.

All sessions had positive feedback. In July a monthly participant stated, “This has been a great workshop series for me. I’ve learned so much. It is a little daunting to know that we should be doing all these things, but it is better to know so that we can plan accordingly rather than being ignorant of appropriate policies and practices.”

The cost for session attendance ranges from $20 to $30 depending on status as a United Way certified partner and time of registration. For more information including a complete schedule of topics and cost to attend, please visit unitedwayescambia.org.

United Way established this series for non-profit partners who expressed a need for educational opportunities that would help them build capacity and efficiency within their organizations. The completion of the first series resulted in nine non-profit graduates and requests for the series to continue. The series was modified to accommodate non-profits who had previously participated but wanted to continue their education, and non-profit partners who were interested in participating for the first time.

If your non-profit organization would like to participate, please call Melissa Lewis at 850-444-7120 or email melissa@unitedwayescambia.org.
