Captain Bob Cornett with Salvation Army has made a request for 12 volunteers to work at their Q street location 1501 N Q Street on Monday, 9A to 5P to help stock their mobile units. If any of you can assist, please let us know and we will refer you on.

Dan Moore, Director, U.S. Disaster Relief for Operation Blessing International was the first to report back to United Way 2-1-1 on a resident listed on the 2-1-1 affected list. By sharing the activities his group had completed related to a resident affected by the flooding (his team to fill 120 sand bags) we were able to move onto the next resident’s request. By sharing what they have assisted with, partners can ensure that we don’t duplicate assistance and can help ensure all residents are helped in a timely fashion. Thank you Dan.
We have reached out to our contacts at the city who have been helpful in assisting residents to see if we can secure drainage so that The Salvation Army laundry truck can be moved to the Fricker Center to assist those affected by flooding who are still without laundry services. We are still working to see if we can identify drainage to make this resource available. Thank you Tamara for working to help us on Mother Day Sunday.

Greg shared the update from Escambia County that may provide several resources that agency partners and case managers can share with their clients and impacted citizens. Highlights are below:
Flood debris collection is currently taking place in the most impacted areas in Escambia County. Residents should be aware that debris cannot be removed from private property and all debris ready for collection must be moved to the curb. As of Saturday, May 10, Escambia County has opened a Residential Debris Drop-Off Site at the John R. Jones Athletic Park, 555 East Nine Mile Road. Hours of Operation will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday until further notice. This debris drop-off site will only available to Escambia County residents. Businesses and commercial haulers are prohibited. Material accepted at this drop-off site will be limited to storm generated mixed construction and demolition waste. Please do not bring household garbage, household hazardous waste or tires. For more information, please contact the Escambia County Solid Waste Management at (850) 937-2160.
The Escambia County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opens Sunday, May 11, at the Brownsville Community Center, 3100 West Desoto Street, Pensacola. Applicants may go to a Disaster Recovery Center for information about FEMA or other disaster assistance, or for questions related to your case. The hours of operations are: Sundays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Mondays – Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This weekend, Escambia County launched Project Outreach, a disaster relief program that uses field teams to provide information and to connect citizens with the appropriate agencies in the most heavily impacted areas. Sites operated Saturday and Sunday and additional hours of operation are forthcoming. The field teams set up tents at the following eight locations:

Damage assessment has changed slightly from the initial numbers provided through the EOC, updated totals are attached and include a tragic 28 homes completely destroyed in Escambia County.
