University of West Florida Upcoming Events, March 15-21, 2015

Here are the upcoming events at the University of West Florida:

Title: Women’s Studies Conference
Date: March 16
Time: All Day

Details: Women’s Studies Collective at UWF will host the 14th Annual Women’s Studies Conference on March 16 in the UWF Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is mandatory and seating limited. Internationally-known activist Angela Davis will be the keynote speaker.

Title: UWF Historic Trust 81st Annual Dinner with Roger Smith
Date: March 16
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Location: Historic Pensacola Campus
Details: UWF Historic Trust welcomes Roger Smith to present “Spies, Schemes and the Sons of Liberty: The Shadier Side of East and West Florida During the American Revolution” on Monday, March 16. Social followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m. Lecture at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is $20 per person, but the lecture can be attended free of charge. RSVP to 850.595.5985 ext. 102.

Title: UWF Alumni Patrick Jacobs Exhibition and Opening Reception
Date: March 19
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Location: UWF Pensacola Campus, Center for Fine and Performing Arts
Details: Make plans to attend the opening reception for The Art Gallery’s Patrick Jacobs: Pink Autumn, a solo-exhibition by UWF alumnus Patrick Jacobs.

Title: The Shifting Ground Series Inclusion Spotlight: Rev. H. K. Matthews
Date: March 19
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Location: UWF Pensacola Campus, University Commons
Details: Join us as we welcome an agent for change, Rev. H. K. Matthews. Rev. Matthews is a nationally recognized Civil Rights Leader who has been jailed 35 times for civil rights protests. He was gassed and beaten during the march across the Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in March of 1965. He integrated the Palafox Street lunch counters in Pensacola. He is the 2014 Recipient of the Morehouse College Gandhi, King, Ikeda Community Builders award. At the age of 87 he is still on the battlefield. Come listen, learn and talk with this American Civil Rights icon.

Title: “In Tribute to our First Nations” Pensacola Pelican unveiled
Date: March 20
Time: 10 to 11 a.m.

Location: Historic Pensacola Campus, Voices of Pensacola.
Details: UWF Historic Trust will unveil “In Tribute to our First Nations,” a new Pelican to the Pensacola area painted by local artist Dave Kessler. The event will be held on the front lawn of the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum. Light refreshments will be served following the unveiling.

Title: Spring Financial Bootcamp
Date: March 20
Time: 12 to 2:30 p.m.

Location: UWF Pensacola Campus, College of Business Education Center
Details: Pen Air Federal Credit Union and the UWF College of Business Executive Mentor Program presents: Spring Financial Bootcamp. The event will take place on March 20 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. at the the College of Business, Building 76A, Room 101 with lunch beginning at 12 p.m. Presentations will follow at 12:30 p.m. This bootcamp will teach students about personal finance and preparing for post-grad life. The speakers will be Dana Mullins, Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer Presenting: “You’re Hired! Now What?” and Steve O’Reilly, a Vice President and Program Manager of Pen Air Asset Management Presenting: “5 Smart Investing Principles.”
