Urgent Need for Type O Negative Blood: ECSO Drive Tomorrow

(Press Release) The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Northwest Florida Blood Services will hold a special Blood Drive on Friday, March 2 from 12pm to 4pm at the ECSO Administration Building, 1700 West Leonard Street.  All blood types are welcome, especially O Negative.  Patients have filled our local hospitals in recent days and drained the O negative reserves at the blood center to a one day resupply.

O Negative is the universal type of blood and can be given immediately to emergency room patients involved in accidents, traumas and at life-saving risks.

It takes just a few minutes to save a life. Each blood donor receives a wellness check and a cholesterol screening. Blood donors will receive a limited edition heart winged t-shirt and a Wendy’s Wooden Nickel token good for a Frosty along with a nickel.

You are eligible to donate at 16 years of age with parental consent, must weigh 110 pounds, present a picture ID and are in good health.  There is no upper age limit. There is no substitute for blood.

Northwest Florida Blood Services is the sole provider of blood to 25 hospitals across the Florida Panhandle from Pensacola to Panama City including hospitals in Southeast Alabama.
