UWF faculty lags behind

The University of West Florida pays less to its professors and associate professors than six of the nine universities in the state that offer master programs, according to an American Association of University Professors survey. Only Barry University and Jacksonville University pay their professors less than UWF.

North Florida (ranked #3) pays its professors on an average of $93,900. UWF average is $86,300.

UWF’s pay for Assistant professors is at the bottom. Only six of the schools use instructors. Of that group UWF ranks fourth behind Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida.

Male professors are paid $5,000 more that their female counterparts – $87,600, $78,600. Male associate professors are paid $5,800 more than females- $68,500 to $62,700.

However, female assistant professors are paid more than the males by $800 -$54,700 to $53,900.

The biggest gender gap is at the instructor level – Males $47,000, Females $41,600 – $6,400 difference.
