The Florida Commission on Ethics has dismissed an ethics complaint filed by former County Commissioner Gene Valentino against Escambia County Chief Deputy Eric Haines.
Valentino had been upset that Haines would not comply with his request to fly the flag at the ECSO administrative building at half mast in honor of former Interim County Administrator George Touart, who passed away in January 2014.
In a press release issued on Jan. 28, the Commission wrote the complaint had been dismissed for lack of legal sufficiency.
There was no statement made in Valentino’s three other complaints that were levied against Sheriff Morgan, which indicates they may still under investigation and review. Through his attorney, Morgan has denied all the allegations.
