Volunteer Ushers Needed for the Saenger Theatre

Orientation to be held February 24, 2014 from 6- 8:00 p.m.

With the increasingly busy show season, the Saenger Theatre needs to add to its volunteer usher roles. Each performance utilizes approximately 16 volunteer ushers to assist the paid staff with the audience needs and events are consistently being added each week to the growing calendar of events.

In an effort to help keep costs to a minimum for local arts groups, the Saenger Theatre utilizes the efforts of volunteer ushers for all performances at the theatre. The typical usher is someone who is 18 or older, enjoys live performances of all types and has 8-12 hours a month to volunteer. They help provide a quality experience for the patrons of the Saenger Theatre.

“There are volunteers from all walks of life at the Saenger Theatre,” said Doug Lee, General Manager of the Saenger Theatre.

Ushers are responsible for seating patrons, directing patrons to services available at the theatre, ensuring the safety of those visiting the theatre and being the ambassadors of the Saenger Theatre.

Volunteer Usher Orientation will be held on Monday, February 24, at the Saenger Theatre from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Those interested in becoming a volunteer usher must attend this training session. Please RSVP by calling the Saenger Theatre box office at 850-595-3880. This will be the last orientation until the new season begins in October of 2014.
