Volunteers needed for downtown holiday lights

Press Release: Faced with the daunting task of creating a Winter Wonderland in downtown Pensacola, The Northwest Florida Central Labor Council (CLC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W., Local Union 676) will help the city’s Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) with safely installing more than 280 individually lit Holiday decorations.

“We receive tremendous comments about our Holiday decorations and the joy it brings to our community and we are extremely grateful for the help and expertise CLC, I.B.E.W, Clean and Green and NES Rentals provide to make it all happen” said

Tens of thousands of residents and visitors congregate in downtown Pensacola for the annual Elf Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony, and continue to visit the historic, waterfront community during its month long Winterfest Celebration.

“It would take us weeks to accomplish and money we just don’t have, to create such a beautiful and inspiring presentation. Yet our volunteers get the job done in two days. It really is incredible,” said

Clean and Green will be assisting with the transport and testing of the decorations again this year to ensure their readiness for the Labor Council to install. NES Rentals is providing the lifts necessary to install the decorations on the Garden Street poles.

Volunteers will work Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14-15, beginning at 8am. The DIB welcomes all who would like to donate their time to help with the project, including tear-down operations in January.

To volunteer please contact Angela, the DIB project coordinator at 850 438-1178.
