Volunteers needed for U-Count 2016 Homeless Service Day

EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless is seeking volunteers for the annual Point In Time (PIT) count of the homeless and U-Count Services day. The events will be held on January 27 and 28, 2016. The count allows agencies who provide services to the homeless to have a better grasp on the overall population in the area, and the services day allows individuals experiencing homelessness the ability to speak with multiple providers at a single site location, giving them the opportunity to access services that will assist them as they move out of homelessness.

In 2015, over 30 agencies attended and more than 300 individuals were assisted. It is anticipated that up to 500 individuals will attend the U-Count service day in 2016. Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles during these two days, from surveying individuals for the PIT count, to serving as hospitality staff at the U-Count service day. Volunteers who would like to provide haircuts, beard trims, chair massage or other personal services are also needed and welcomed.

If you or your organization would like to volunteer, please contact Alison Griffith at alison.griffith@ecoh.org no later than January 10, 2016. She will provide you with registration forms and training applicable to the volunteer role that you are interested in. You may also call 439-3009 x 104 for additional information.

EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless is working to prevent and eliminate homelessness in our area. The plight of those without a home, or those living in poverty, can be both lonely and difficult. EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless serves as the administrator for area agencies that assist the homeless in Escambia and Santa Rosa County. All donations to the EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless support the Homeless Trust Fund, and 100% of donations are used for direct client services.
