Wahoos announce schedule

Press Release: The Pensacola Blue Wahoos today announced the team’s 2012 inaugural season schedule. The Blue Wahoos begin the season on April 5th with a five game homestand against the Montgomery Biscuits (Tampa Bay Rays) at Maritime Park. Following the initial homestand, the team travels to Mobile, AL for a five game set against the BayBears (Arizona Diamondbacks).

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are scheduled to play 140 regular-season contests in 152 days between April 5 and September 3. The 70-game home slate includes 10 contests in April, 15 in May, 15 in June, 15 in July, 12 in August and three in September. The Blue Wahoos finish the 2012 regular season at home against the Tennessee Smokies (Chicago Cubs). The team is home for the 4th of July, Blue Angel Weekend and Labor Day.

The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs is one of the oldest and most respected leagues within professional sports with roots dating back to 1885. The League is currently home to ten teams located in the South. The ten teams and their affiliates include: Birmingham Barons (Chicago White Sox); Chattanooga Lookouts (LA Dodgers); Huntsville Stars (Milwaukee Brewers); Jackson Generals (Seattle Mariners); Jacksonville Suns (Florida Marlins); Mississippi Braves (Atlanta Braves); Mobile BayBears (Arizona Diamondbacks); Montgomery Biscuits (Tampa Bay Rays); Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Cincinnati Reds); and Tennessee Smokies (Chicago Cubs).

The three day All-Star Break will take place June 18-20. The 2012 mid-season classic will be played at Smokies Park, home of the Tennessee Smokies, in Kodak, TN.
