Wahoo’s pre-pay first year’s rent

Press Release: BLUE WAHOOS PAY FULL YEAR’S RENT

The Blue Wahoos hitting streak continues. At the March CMPA meeting, the Blue Wahoos hit a home run. Collier Merrill, CMPA chairman, and the board were expecting Blue Wahoos President Bruce Baldwin to present them with a rent check of $35,000 as addressed by the stadium usage agreement. Instead, the organization surprised the CMPA with a check of $175,000 to cover the stadium’s rent for the entire year.

“This is being paid on behalf of the entire Blue Wahoos organization based on the fact that the demand for ticketing has been so great and also our understanding of the start-up cost for a new organization. We hope that this will be helpful to the CMPA in helping to offset some of those early expenditures,” said Baldwin.

“Quint and Rishy Studer and the Blue Wahoos, from the beginning, have always delivered,” said Merrill. “This is just another case and point of them going above and beyond to make sure this community is a better place to live.”

Baldwin went on to add, “We have more exciting news coming later due to our overwhelming community support, ticket sales and game attendance. Because of that, the Blue Wahoos will be able to make even more contributions to the CMPA based on our agreement with them.”

The Blue Wahoos will open play at the brand new waterfront stadium on April 5 against the Montgomery Biscuits at 7 p.m.
