Weekend: Proof of political hit job

Why did I call the anonymous complaint County Clerk Pam Childers said she received, investigated and turned over the state attorney’s office a political hit job.

1. The anonymous complaint led Childers’ internal auditor to two work orders that had been doctored to make it look like Commissioner May had ordered an army of county workers to clear a lot he owned.

2. Other commissioners have made similar requests for the Road Department to check on complaints of yard debris in the streets and right-of-way, and they received follow-up calls when the work couldn’t be done because the debris was on private property. No one called Commissioner May.

3. The field supervisor took a video of the lot and added his commentary. Sources have shared the video was uploaded to Facebook last November. A reader sent me this screenshot of an anonymous comment made to Escambia Citizens Watch on Nov. 15, 2023. Attorney Eric Stevenson says the state attorney’s office didn’t contact the commissioner until late January or early February. The video and comment have been taken down.
