I got this email from Mr. Wells:

Subject: SPAM-LOW: DeWeese Communication

From: Rusty Wells
To: Diane Mack , Janet Matteson , Jewel Cannada-Wynn , John Jerralds , Larry B. Johnson , Larry B. Johnson , M Wiggins , Maren Deweese , Megan Pratt , Megan Pratt , Mike Wiggins , P.C. Wu , Ronald Townsend , Rusty Wells , Sam Hall , Sam HallFWD CC: Al Coby , Ericka Burnett , Jamie Page , , Derek Cosson , Jeff DeWeese

I have received a communication from Jeff DeWeese expressing great concern over my reference to him as Councilwoman DeWeese’s husband and any suggestion that he may be distributing sensitive City information relative to current litigation. The purpose of this brief communication is to make clear that I do not have any information that he is or has been or will be involved in further distribution and no basis to believe that he would be. My concern was for Ms. DeWeese to use any influence she may have to advise those who have access to it to refrain giving it wider distribution. I am aware that she has been asked for copies of the file by others, and Mr. Outzen has written that he obtained an unspecified amount of the entire file from her. I have no information regarding the scope of distribution of this portion of the material other than that Ms. DeWeese and Mr. Cosson inadvertently received it from the Clerk’s Office.

Here is my reply:
My attorney is John Asmar. Please feel free to contact him about any emails we have. However, I will make it clear as I did last week with Mr. Wells: The Independent News has received no emails of Mr. Wells regarding any legal cases from Councilwoman DeWeese or her husband.

Last Thursday, Mr. Wells gave me ride in his mini-van to the Blanchard building. He told me about the file dump of his emails and his concerns over some involving the city’s legal strategy on pending litigation. He told me that I was free to do what I wanted with the information, but he would appreciate if I didn’t release those emails. I told him that I had no such emails. If I did receive anything of that nature, I would honor his request.

Since that time, this is the first communication that I have received from Mr. Wells.

I can’t believe we’re still talking about this.
