U.S. News & World Report has announced that West Florida High School of Advanced Technology is a “Best High Schools” winner, earning a national ranking for the 2025-26 school year!

WFHS is ranked 89th in the state of Florida and, according to U.S. News, the #1 Pensacola Metro-Area school.  U.S. News & World Report uses many ranking factors, such as College Readiness, State Assessment Proficiency, and Graduation Rate.

“The students and dedicated faculty worked very hard for this designation,” remarked Principal Esi Shannon. “They are the reason why we have earned this prestigious honor. In our 25th Anniversary year, our administration is truly proud to be recognized as a top high school in the nation.”

West Florida High School is one of ECPS’s Schools of Choice and is a wall-to-wall Career Academy institution that offers twelve different Academy programs. WFHS students achieved an 80% pass rate on Advanced Placement exams last spring and over 100 AP scholars. Last year, over $4 million of scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2025, which had a graduation rate of 99.7%.

On Saturday, October 18th, West Florida will open its campus up to prospective 8th grade families for its Academy Showcase. Walking Tours will take place from 9:00-11:00 A.M. and 12:30-2:30 P.M. All Escambia County families with an 8th grade student are encouraged to attend if they have interest in applying to West Florida High School.
