WFH CEO retiring

After more than 20 years in healthcare and close to three years as CEO of West Florida Healthcare, Gay Nord has decided to retire later this spring to spend more time with her family.

“West Florida Healthcare has proudly served residents and visitors to Pensacola and the surrounding communities for more than 40 years,” said Nord. “I have every confidence in the strong foundation our colleagues have built as it centers on delivering high-quality care to patients and serving our communities with compassion and unwavering commitment. I am certain West Florida Healthcare will continue to positively impact Escambia County and I will be forever grateful for the honor of serving this hospital and HCA Healthcare throughout a career that has been amazing and incredibly rewarding.”

Under Gay’s leadership West Florida Healthcare launched residency programs in partnership with the University of Central Florida, opened a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, established a Maternal Fetal Medicine Program, an Intensivist Program, a Comprehensive Stroke program, a GYN Oncology program and opened a new freestanding emergency room on 9 Mile Rd.

“Since starting her career in healthcare at HCA Healthcare, Gay has served in multiple leadership roles over her 18 years with the company. Her mission-driven approach to leadership has proven immensely impactful,” said Richard Hammett, HCA Healthcare North Florida Division president. “As she has done at West Florida Healthcare, she has led her teams to great success by attracting and retaining top talent to help expand access to a growing array of healthcare services to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We are grateful for Gay’s leadership and wish her the very best in her retirement. A national search is underway for her successor.”
