Another rumored drug area is Century. There’s a reason why that is where Coach Washington was arrested. We’ve heard from more than one source that this is where most of our illegal drugs enter the county.
The paper has tried a few times to nail down rumors of air fields, safe houses and meth labs but our small staff had trouble finding anything.
A search of the PNJ archives for 2006 revealed only one meth lab bust last year – Beulah (Nov 2006).
More meth lab arrests were made in Santa Rosa Co. – Milton (Aug 2006, June 2006, Feb 2006), Midway (Jan 2006).
Guess it’s possible Escambia only had one meth lab or that the sheriff is making more busts that he’s not publicizing. We did find where a meth lab was busted in Walnut Hill in 2005. But so few arrests gave us reason to believe the Century stories may be true.
