What BP wishes it didn’t have to show

BP continues its work to collect oil by the riser insertion tube tool (RITT) containment system. Based on the statements by BP CEO Tony Hayward, its CFO Doug Suttles and others, you would think that the oil giant is collecting nearly every drop spewing from the wellhead. Not hardly

BP first said the spill was 1,000 barrels a day, then it raised its estimate to 5,000 barrels per day. On Thursday, Suttles said that the tube BP had inserted was siphoning off 5,000 barrels per day from the oil leak, the video demonstrated that BP’s numbers simply didn’t add up.
