What do the city pension plans cost its residents

In 2000, the City of Pensacola had 56,255 residents and its total contribution to its fire, police and general pension plans was $2,479,380 —or $44.10 per citizen.

In 2008, the City of Pensacola had shrunk to 54,055 people and its total contribution to its fire, police and general pension plans had jumped to $12,814,700 —or $222.18 per citizen.

If nothing changes in the pension plans, the projected contribution to the fire, police and general pension plans for FY 2013 is $18.3 million —or $354.37 per citizen —a 703-percent increase over 2001 and 59-percent increase over five years ago.
