What is Attorney General’s Proof Drag Show is Obscene?

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier wrote the Pensacola City Council, claiming that the drag show scheduled at the Saenger Theatre “mocks one of the most sacred holidays in the Christian faith. He claimed that while children were enjoying Winterfest in downtown Pensacola that “men dressed as garish women in demonic costumes will be engaged in obscene behavior mere feet away.”

His ‘Evidence’

Naughty Tour: Uthmeier wrote that “A Drag Queen Christmas” has been “referred to as part of the ‘Naughty Tour,’ where men masquerading as women claim to put the ‘Ho Ho Ho Into The Holidays.’” However, his footnote links to the 2023 drag show “Jimbo Is Putting The Ho Ho Ho Into The Holidays At A Drag Queen Christmas”- which isn’t coming here.

The Tuck: Uthmeier also wrote, “A previous production featured a male performer boasting the stage name ‘Trinity ‘The Tuck’ Taylor’—a not-so-subtle stab at the fundamental doctrine of Christianity.”

Demons: He mentions three queens that are in the show:

Fact: Uthmeier doesn’t know if these performers will be those characters during the “A Drag Queen Christmas” performance. The footnotes are not related to the current show.

Zack Smith’s Role

University of West Florida Trustee Zack Smith called out “A Drag Queen Christmas” as “blasphemous” in a July 22 article for the Heritage Foundation’s “The Daily Signal”—“Pensacola’s Historic Saenger Theatre Set to Host Drag Show Mocking Christ 2 Days Before Christmas.”

The UWF trustee also mentioned another production, “Pray the Gay Away,” and linked to a YouTube video from five years ago promoting the show in Michigan.

Smith added: “Then, of course, there’s Jewels Sparkles who reposted on X a glammed-up-girl-like cartoon character joyfully exclaiming ‘f— Israel’ (with the profanity, of course, not censored). Three days later, in all caps, Sparkles posted ‘F— ICE.’” The posts were dated June 17 and June 27, respectively. Not sure what he means by “of course.”

What About?

“A Drag Show Christmas” also performs in Saint Petersburg on Dec. 22. The performance is at the Mahaffey Theater at The Duke Energy Center for the Arts, which is owned by the City of St. Petersburg.
