What is the truth?

From News Journal article (“Chemicals will protect the Gulf, Rep. Miller says”):
“Adm. Thad Allen, the commandant of the Coast Guard, said the spill has become much more difficult to contain. As the oil has spread, it has formed different consistencies, from a widespread sheen that can be skimmed from the surface, to sludge that has washed ashore in Louisiana, to tarballs found on beaches in Texas and Alabama.”

Or

BP CEO Tony Hayward who said at Monday’s press conference with Gov. Crist that the oil spill is being contained in the vicinity of the wellhead and the Gulf Coast region can return to normal.

The BP oil spill isn’t over. Jeff Miller and Hayward are headed for a PR nightmare, even Fox News is reporting this is an environmental disaster.

From Fox News Blog:

The estimated amount of oil released so far in the Gulf is some 5 million gallons. Over a million more than the Santa Barbara oil spill of 1969. Getting closer, day by day to the 11 million gallons spilled in the Exxon Valdez incident.

UK-based author of recently-published “Oil : Money, Politics and Power” told Fox News Hayward is “…fighting against terrible odds. He’s at the mercy of his engineers.”

At the same time, Bower has been critical of BP Hayward’s public relation approach to the crisis.

Regarding the “hits” BP is now taking from the White House, Hayward told Sky, “I think it is natural that the administration demonstrate they are on top of it”

The folks in the Gulf elsewhere are probably hoping BP will “get on top of it” as well.
