Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the 2022-23 state budget of $109.9 billion yesterday, slashing $3.1 billion in line-item vetoes.

Escambia County Old Jail Building Repairs Study (HB 4567) (Senate Form 2545) $80,000

Special Categories – Pensacola Humane Society Help Team $60,000

Veteran Memorial Park Maintenance and Repair $355,000

West Florida Historic Preservation – Site Preservation and Operations (HB 4603) (Senate Form 2042) $750,000

Escambia County: $1,307,500

Santa Rosa County Pine Blossom Road Drainage Study (HB 4875) (Senate Form 2527) $100,000

Commissioner Jeff Bergosh reported on his blog that the $2 million budget for the construction of a pedestrian bridge that would connect the north side of 9-Mile Road to the south side at Beulah Middle School was vetoed.

PNJ’s Jim Little added that $1.9 million for student dorms at the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences West Florida Research and Education Center in Milton was also vetoed.
