Where should Children’s Trust put a million dollars

The Escambia Children’s Trust collects between $8-$10 million annually. Using the 2022 test scores in English Language Arts and Math provided by the Florida Department of Education for our elementary schools, I have my recommendation for the five schools and their neighborhoods that most need help from the Trust.

Oakcrest and Global Learning have the highest percentage of students in English Language Arts for grades 3-5 at Level 1, the lowest proficiency level – school averages for all three grades are 56% and 54% respectively.  The same goes for math – Oakcrest 66% and Global Learning 69%

O.J. Semmes., Ensley and Warrington have more than 50% at Level I in ELA and Math.

The Trust should focus on these students and their families – study, analyze and request proposals.
