White shocks Whitehead

Last week’s Escambia County Commission vote that made Kevin White the new chairman caught 2005-06 chair Mike Whitehead caught completely by surprise. Whitehead thought he had Gene Valentino’s support…guess not.

This change may have an impact on County Administrator George Touart who worked and played very closely with Whitehead. White hasn’t been a favored son of the power group.

Next few months will be interesting. Obviously Valentino and Robinson aren’t going to sit quietly.
