Whitehead hijacks charity tournament

Yesterday The Sons of Italy held their annual BOUNA FORTUNA Golf Tournament at Marcus Pointe Golf Club. As with most charity events like that, people paid $75 to play and additional money to sponsor holes and have signs on the course.

Escambia County Commission Chairman Mike Whitehead had a foursome which he paid for, but proceeded to place his campaign signs around the course – even though he didn’t pay a sponsorship fee. When members of Sons of Italy tried to pick up the Whitehead campaign signs, a member of Whitehead’s foursome told them to put the signs back and that Mr. Whitehead was a member of Marcus Point Country Club and could put his signs wherever he wanted.

According to report I got, Whitehead refused to pay the sponsorship fee. Wilson Robertson, who is challenging Whitehead in August, and Commissioner Gene Valentino both paid the sponsorship fees to have signs on the course.

The Sons of Italy members are upset!
