Who is George Scarborough?

Here’s a biography Scarborough sent the paper. Will try to get others as they announce.
George Scarborough is a 1982 graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a B.S. degree and a Certificate of Merit for Academic Excellence in Business Management.  After graduation, he went to work as an Analyst for Shell Oil Corp. in Houston, Texas.

He worked in marketing after leaving Shell and founded Scarborough Consulting, Inc., a firm specializing in marketing consulting and event management.  He also served on the Board of Directors of New Century Press, Inc., a newsmagazine in Northwest Florida, which was published weekly by Congressman Joe Scarborough from 1999 – 2002.

The Scarborough Consulting, Inc. client list has included private corporations, government agencies, Chambers of Commerce and political candidates and referendums.

While running Scarborough Consulting, George launched and produced the Gulf Coast Technology Summit and Exposition from 2001 – 2003.  It was the largest “Information Technology” Trade Show of its kind between New Orleans, Louisiana and Jacksonville, Florida, and promoted Northwest Florida as a future hub for “IT” businesses activity.

In addition to his work in marketing and business development, George has been actively involved in his community as baseball coach, volunteer and nonprofit Board Member.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the following organizations:  WSRE-TV (a PBS Affiliate); The Pensacola Opera; Starbase Atlantis, a U.S. Navy sponsored organization dedicated to assisting underprivileged children with studies in Math and Sciences; Gulf Breeze Parks and Recreations; and he was nominated to serve on the Selective Service Board.

George has been married to Sara Scarborough for 23 years, and they have two children, Emily, 16, and Benjamin, 12, who attend Gulf Breeze High School and Gulf Breeze Middle School respectively.  They reside in Gulf Breeze, Florida and are active members of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
